Alexandria, Egypt 2000
First let me tell you, you NEED to visit this city. Alexandria is a beautiful city. Even though we got food poisining from a street shop Chris and I had a fantastic time there. There are old archilogical sites in the middle of the City

the picture of the coast side road is from our hotel. We stayed in 2 different places. One was an absolute dive! Hotels in most of Eqypt are very likely a floor of a building with someone else owning the next floor and running it as a hotel too. Very different from the US. We changed hotels after the first night in the dive. We went to a recently refurbished art deco hotel. Very nice and only a few dollars more a night than the dive.

We ran back into Chris Chalubek again there. We were hanging out on the balcony and across the way on his balcony was Chris. I have stayed in touch with Chris ever since. Awesome man!!

We went to the city museum. They had a large amount of carved stone items and "stuff" from the area that has been dug up. They have a real problem with starting to building new buildings and finding an archilogical site.

In case you did not know, alligators are good luck to the ancient Egyptians. Go figure that one out!

The Tigran Tomb was unusual because it was still in tact AND they let us take photographs. Most of Cairo's artifact you can not take pictures of or at least not flash photography. In Alexandria they were not restrictive at all.
